  • We can all agree that nobody likes slow play during tournaments.  Sometimes golf courses are busy and there's nothing that can be done to speed things up.  However, a majority of the time slow play is our own fault.  We can all do better to minimize the time it takes to play a tournament.  The Tournament Committee is going to identify and take action with groups that continually fall behind the pace of play and hold up the field.  Below are a few tips that can really help speed up the pace of play.
    • Always make sure your group is keeping pace with the group ahead
    • Walk or drive to your ball when your playing partner is hitting
    • Hit a provisional ball when there's a chance your ball may be lost
    • Line up your putt while your playing partner is putting
    • Putt out whenever possible
    • Don't delay hitting a shot to have a conversation or tell a story.  Have the conversation while driving the cart to your next shot.
    • Mark your scores when you arrive at the next tee
    • Watch where others in your group hit their drives and approach shots to reduce time looking for the ball
    • Always play ready golf.  There is no penalty for playing out of turn.
    • Don't be afraid to tell your player partners, "Let's pick up the pace because we're out of position with the group ahead of us."

  • Frances Adams is starting up the Twilight Golf League in May.  The first night will be Tuesday, May 2 at Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon.  There will be a shotgun start at 5:30 pm.  Each team will field two 2-man teams (four players total) that will play a 2-man scramble against another team in the league.  The league will continue for several weeks.  If you're interested in registering a team, please call Frances Adams at 909-795-4427 or 909-809-4590.

  • Due to recent course conditions at Hemet Golf Club, the Tournament Committee had deemed Abnormal Course Conditions as defined by USGA Rule 16.1.  The Tournament Committee limited the relief that could be taken to the fairways and fringe.  Unfortunately, the fairways and fringe are not clearly defined.  This created inconsistency between groups in taking the appropriate relief.  Therefore, the Tournament Committee decided that when playing Hemet Golf Club and Abnormal Course Conditions are present as declared by the Greens Chairman, the relief will apply to the General Area (defined below) and will not be limited to the fairways and fringe.  The Greens Chairman deeming Abnormal Course Coniditions will be rare.  Please note that the Tournament Committee has deemed all bunkers Abnormal Course Conditions until further notice.
    • General Area is the area of the course that covers all of the course except for the other four defined areas:
      • (1) the teeing area the player must play from in starting the hole they are playing,
      • (2) all penalty areas,
      • (3) all bunkers, and
      • (4) the putting green of the hole the player is playing.
