  • On behalf of the Board, I apologize for the bumpy start to 2024.  The poor weather has caused many problems.  To simplify things, the tournament formats will remain individual low gross/low net until we see some sunny weather.  Partner formats are too difficult to manage due to many Members that sign up and then opt out due to rain.  Then it's a scramble to find new partners.  The Board also decided to reschedule the President's Cup.  Many Members wouldn't qualify to play in the tournament due to the Constitution and Bylaws requiring participation in at least one other tournament in 2024.  Tournament participate has been lower than normal due to the poor weather.  Therefore, the President's Cup has tentatively been rescheduled for June 16.

  • On New Year's Eve, I had the pleasure
of spending time with two of the Club's
    Lifetime Members, Larry Karr and
Terry Erard.  Larry and Terry are both
    past Club President's that dedicated
a massive amount of time in building,
    leading, governing, and setting the
precedent for The Calimesa Men'sGolf Club.  All Members, past and present, are fortune to be part of a club that was led by these men.  Larry and Terry, the Club thanks you both!

  • Abnormal Course Conditions, as defined by the USGA, exist in bunkers when there is temporary water, defined ground under repair, animal holes, and immovable obstructions (such as sprinkler heads).  When Abnormal Course Conditions exist, proceed under USGA Rule 16.1(c).  The Tournament Committee adopted a rule on 7/20/21 that Abnormal Course Conditions exist in all bunkers.  The Tournament Committee has reviewed and amended this adopted rule.  Effective January 1, 2024, the Tournament Committee has adopted a rule expanding the USGA's definition of Abnormal Course Conditions to include bunkers not raked, footprints, ruts created by water runoff or similar conditions.  A ball that comes to rest against a lip, is plugged or buried is not an Abnormal Course Condition.  In these situations, confirmation must be obtained from all Members in the group that one of these expanded Abnormal Course Conditions exist.  Once the Abnormal Course Condition is confirmed, the Member can pick up their ball, rake the bunker, and place the ball in the same spot it came to rest.

  • Tournament Chairman, Doug Owens, usually emails a tee sheet on Saturday mornings with pairings and hole assignments for Sunday's tournament.  If a registered Member can't make it, needs to drop out or make a change after the tee sheet is sent, please call or text Doug instead of sending him an email.  If an email is sent to Doug after the tee sheet is sent out, there's a chance Doug may not see the email.  Please call or text Doug to confirm any changes.

  • Member, David Pidal, is hosting the Masters West Golf Tournament on Friday, May 17, 2024 at Yucaipa Valley Golf Course.  David has been hosting this tournament for years.  This is a fabulous event that always has great participation.  Click here to download a tournament flyer.

  • Just a reminder, that The Calimesa Men's Golf Club is an affiliate member of the Southern California Golf Association (SCGA) who is an affiliate member of the United States Golf Association (USGA).  The tournaments that the Club hosts will always be governed by the USGA Rules of Golf.  The only exceptions to the USGA Rules of Golf would be previous Board adopted rules/decisions or a communication/announcement made by the Tournament Committee prior to the start of a tournament.  Click here to read the Board Adopted Rules & Decisions.  For example, the USGA Rules of Golf state the ball is played as it lies.  The ball cannot be moved, bumped, lifted & placed, etc. unless otherwise allowed by the USGA Rules of Golf.  On very rare occasions, an announcement may be made just before the start of a tournament that "lift, clean & place" will be allowed.  This would only be for the day's tournament due to soft, soggy, muddy or similar poor course conditions.  Unless a "lift, clean & place" announcement is made by the Tournament Committee, play the ball as it lies.
