NEWS - January/February 2021

  • Happy New Year!  It's the beginning of a new year and an opportunity to look forward for a more stable, consistent, back to normal 2021.  There were a lot of challenges for our Club to overcome in 2020.  Let's hope for smooth sailing in the days, weeks, and months ahead in 2021.

  • Just a reminder for the safety of all our Members and their families, please use social distancing before, during, and after Club tournaments and wear a mask whenever possible or when required.

  • The annual Longo/Spoto Super Bowl Tournament is scheduled for Super Bowl Sunday.  This tournament is open to Members, non-Members, men and women.  Click here for details on the tournament.

  • The Bobby (Spoto) Longo Memorial Monument that was located at Calimesa Country Club no longer exists but the Board continues to vote on and honor Members that have passed away.  Members are added to the Memorial virtually on our Club website.  This year, the Board unanimously voted in Charlie Totoro.  Charlie had previously been voted in as a Lifetime Member of the Club, the highest honor a Member can receive.  Click here to view the virtual Bobby (Spoto) Longo Memorial Monument.

  • Effective immediately, the Board has adopted a Local Rule that Abnormal Course Conditions exist in all bunkers.  Relief can be taken under USGA Rule 16.1c shown below.  The ball does not need to be dropped.  It can be placed in the bunker.

  • The Board has two Member at Large positions open.  Members at Large are those Members seeking to assist the Board of Directors with performing their duties.  The intent of Members at Large are to familiarize themselves with Director positions and their job duties so as to easily transition into a Director position in the future as recommended by the Board and voted on by the membership.  Member at Large positions serve up to two years.  Members interested should contact a Member of the Board.

  • The 2021 Tournament Schedule is coming together but will continue to be ever changing as it was in 2020 due to COVID-19.  In lieu of publishing hard copies of the schedule, a live real time version will be always be available on our Club website.  Emails reminders will continue to be sent out approximately a week before the tournament.  Click here to view the live real time Tournament Schedule.

  • The annual Spoto/Ebert Invitational in Laughlin, NV has been booked.  Click here for details of the trip.

  • The Board has implemented a new incentive program for individuals interested in joining The Calimesa Men's Golf Club.  New Members can join and take advantage of a 60 day free trial membership.  During the free trial period, Members will be assigned an Associate Membership.  New Members will have the opportunity to establish a handicap index and participate in tournaments (excluding Club funded tournaments) to get a feel for The Calimesa Men's Golf Club.  Please encourage your friends and family members to join today.

  • The Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at Hemet Golf Club.  The 2021 Board of Directors was voted on and unanimously elected as follows:

    President - Michael Ebert
    Vice President - Josh Alesi
    Treasurer - Justin Mallinckrodt
    Secretary - Glenn Young
    Tournament Chairman - Doug Owens
    Handicap Chairman - Doug Solano
    Greens Chairman - Steve Toms

  • The 2020 tournament points leaderboard has been finalized.  Click here to view the point leaders.

  • The Tournament Committee has been trying to work out the kinks with regards to the tournament payouts in the form of gifts cards.  Please be patient as it's a work in progress.  If a Member places in a tournament, a gift card is earned for the course the tournament was played at.  The expectation is that gift cards will be distributed the next time a tournament is played at the course the Member had previously won the gift card at.

  • The results of all current year Club tournaments are posted online and always available through the USGA's Tournament Management program.  Click on the below image anywhere on this website to view The Calimesa Men's Golf Club Tournament Portal.  Tournament results prior to the current year will be made available by sending a request to the Club's email address (CalimesaMensGolfClub@gmail.com).
