The Calimesa Men's Golf Club

NEWS - January 2017

  • Happy New Year!  I hope that everyone had a great holiday season and look forward to a prosperous new year for all members and their families.  Looking back at 2016, our Club has been through a lot.  There have been lots of changes that the Board has been navigating.  The Membership grew in 2016 while tournament participation dropped off significantly.  The Board has listened to the Membership and is actively working to address everyone's concerns.  2017 will be a great opportunity for the Calimesa Men's Golf Club to regain its strength.

  • The Annual General Meeting was held on December 4, 2016.  The meeting included a review of 2016, a preview of 2017, a lengthy discussion about moving the Men's Club to Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon, recognition of the 2016 major winners, and election of the 2017 board of directors.  The Members voted to keep Calimesa Country Club the Club's home course and play some tournaments at Tukwet Canyon.  The Members also elected the board as follows:
    • President - Michael Ebert
    • Vice President - Gary Sutt
    • Treasurer - Greg Marksbury
    • Secretary - Glenn Young
    • Tournament Chairman - Doug Owens
    • Handicap Chairman - Isaac Kerr
    • Greens Chairman - Josh Alesi

  • Just a reminder that all tournament scores are automatically posted by the Tournament Committee.  Please do not post scores after a tournament because that will create a duplicate posting.

  • The Tournament Committee has finalized the 2017 Tournament Schedule.  Please take note of the Home and Away tournaments.  Home tournaments will be played at Calimesa Country Club.  Away tournaments will be played at Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon.  Click here to view and download the Tournament Schedule.

  • The annual Longo/Spoto Memorial Super Bowl Tournament will be held on February 5 at Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon.  This tournament is open to Members, non-Members, and women.  Proceeds from this event help fund the Yucaipa High School Boys and Girls Golf Teams.  The format this year will be a 2-man handicapped scramble.  The $80 entry fee includes green fees, cart, range balls, team payouts, skins, and a donation to the scholarship fund.  Please come out for a fun tournament before the Super Bowl.  Click here for details and to register.

  • While the course condition of Calimesa Country Club continues to improve, General Manager, Bryan Aidds, gave the Men's Club a weekend rate of $25 for the last part of 2016.  Bryan has decided to the keep $25 weekend rate for all of 2017.  He will also provide a complimentary breakfast buffet for Members playing in the tournament on Sunday, January 22.

  • The 2016 payouts have been finalized.  Click here to view the complete list.

  • Members that didn't renew their membership before December 31, 2016 were removed from the active roster.  Members can be reinstated anytime by mailing dues to the Club Secretary, Glenn Young, remitting dues to Glenn on a tournament day or can be paid online.  A discount of $3 will be offered to all Members that renew their membership online.  To renew online, click here and enter the promo code "ONLINE" at checkout to receive a discount.

  • The Board recently met and voted unanimously to add Rod Benson, Walt Pyle, Bob Boucher, and Don Tellyer to the Longo/Spoto Memorial.  Plates with their names will be added on a brick of the monument in early 2017.

  • The annual Spoto/Ebert Tournament is set to be played the first weekend of June in Mesquite, NV.  Click here for the trip details and to download a flyer.

  • Due to the SCGA changing from calendar year memberships to 12 month memberships, the Board has decided to eliminate the hole in one insurance, effective 12/31/17.

  • If any Member has a concern about a current scrip balance, please contact Tournament Chairman, Doug Owens.  He will verify scrip has been posted correctly with General Manager, Bryan Addis.  Doug cannot verify when scrip is used.  That is the responsibility of each Member.  Please make it a habit of requesting a receipt when using scrip and keep a running balance.  Click here to see scrip balances.

  • The maintenance crew of Calimesa Country Club has reseeded portions of the greens on holes 8 and 15.  The reseeded areas are not marked but will be played as Ground Under Repair until further notice.  Please take relief keeping the ball on the green.  The grass bunkers on hole 18 are also ground under repair and will be marked.
