- The first round of the Yu-Cal Cup was played at Calimesa Country Club on July 17. Calimesa had a strong performance resulting in a 17.5 to 12.5 lead over Yucaipa. The second match will be played at Yucaipa Valley Golf Club on Sunday, August 28. 12.5 points are needed to retain the Cup. Members that would like to play must participate in the Yu-Cal Cup Qualifier Tournament on August 21. The low 20 net Members will qualify for the second Yu-Cal Cup match. Members must come into the clubhouse after the qualifier tournament to see if they qualify and then register to play on August 28. Click here for details on the Yu-Cal Cup matches.
- Calimesa Country Club recently starting serving dinner on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. A few Members got together on July 29 to try it out. The food, service, and company was great! If you have an opportunity, please patronize the club for dinner. You won't be disappointed.
- The USGA Handicap System Manual provides the rules for the administration of Member handicaps. Effective January 1, 2016, Section 5-1, e. Unacceptable Scores was amended to include (vi) When a player plays alone. Per the USGA, "To further support the key [Handicap] System premise of peer review, scores made while playing alone will no longer be acceptable for handicap purposes. This change underscores the importance of providing full and accurate information regarding a player’s potential scoring ability, and the ability of other players to form a reasonable basis for supporting or disputing a posted score."
- The Tournament Committee is still having a problem with Members registering for tournaments in advance. Over the next few months, the Men's Club will be implementing a cutoff day to register for a tournament. Members will need to register by Thursday for a Sunday tournament of the same week. Members may register through this website, can sign up at Calimesa Country Club or call, email or text the Tournament Chairman, Doug Owens (909-649-1963 / ddowens929@aol.com). Members that fail to register by Thursday, won't be playing on Sunday.
- The SCGA posts rules videos on a regular basis. The video below is about anchoring a putter. This new USGA rule became effective January 1, 2016. Please take a moment to watch this important video.
