NEWS - April 2015

The Calimesa Men's Golf Club is online!  The board made a decision to invest in a website.  It's a big step to ensure that our membership stays connected with what's going on with the Men's Club and to also help attract new members.  The website was launched the last week in March and it's a work in progress.  The website will be updated continuously each month.  The intent is to allow members easy access to all aspects of the Men's Club including tournament results, payouts, posting scores, rules, bylaws, news, club financials, board meeting minutes, tournament registration, membership renewal, historical information, etc.  Please take a few minutes and check it out.  If you have any questions, comments, suggestions or if there is anything that you would like to see, please contact a board member or leave a comment on the website.

During a recent meeting, the board unanimously voted to add Walt Warren, Jim Palmer, Richard Flattinger, and "Crazy" Joe Archer to the Longo/Spoto Memorial Monument.  The memorial is located at the base of the flagpole in front of the Pro Shop.  Members that have passed away are honored by having their name placed on a brick that makes up the monument.  Next time you're gathering around the flagpole before a tournament, take a moment and remember the honored members.

In an effort to grow the Men's Club membership, the board has decided to waive the $10 membership dues for junior members (17 & under).  If you have a son, grandson, great grandson, nephew, etc. that is interested in golf, have them join the Men's Club.  They can establish their handicap and play in tournaments.  Per the Men's Club Constitution and Bylaws, juniors can not participate in tournaments.

The year-to-date scrip and skins have been posted on the website.  Updated cumulative totals will be uploaded on a monthly basis.  Click here to view the report.

The Yucaipa High School Girls and Boys Golf Teams are having their annual fundraiser golf tournament on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon.  This is a great event that had a strong turnout last year.  There are sponsorship opportunities, raffles, and a silent auction all for a great cause.  Click here to sign up for this tournament and support the Golf Teams.  If you have any questions about the tournament, please contact Coach Scott Adams (909-725-0486 or sadamsgc@hotmail.com).

The President's Cup is in full swing and there have been some very competitive matches.  The bracket is posted in the Pro Shop.  Check it out and see who's making big moves.  The final match must be completed by Sunday, April 26, 2015.  There is a Men's Club tournament that day so hopefully we'll be able watch the next President's Cup Champion be crowned.

For those that are unsure about how tournaments are paid out, there is a $10 entry fee and $10 optional skins game.  The $10 entry fee funds the gross and net places that pay out as Pro Shop script in accordance with the Payout Schedule the Men's Club has adopted.  Click here to view the Payout Schedule.  The $10 for skins gets split 50/50, $5 to gross and $5 to net.  The amount of each skin is determined by the taking the total gross skin money and dividing that by the total number of gross skins (rounded down to the nearest whole dollar).  The same is true for the net skins.  If you have any questions about tournament or skins payouts, please contact the Tournament Chairman, Doug Owens.

Just a reminder, do not post your score after a tournament.  Handicap Chairman, Gary Sutt will post all scores for you.

The deadline for registering and submitting money for the Spoto/Ebert Invitation Golf Tournament in Mesquite, NV is May 1, 2015.  If you are going, please get your registration form and money to Tom Spoto before the end of April.  There are no guarantees of a spot in the tournament or a hotel room after May 1, 2015.  Click here for the registration form.
